This week, the coronavirus (COVID-19) truly hit the U.S., causing largescale impacts on the restaurant and food world. Out of health and safety concerns, conferences and business travel has been cancelled across the country. Union Square Hospitality Group's restaurant The Modern closed for sanitation after a guest tested positive for coronavirus. The guest who tested positive was none other than Rick Cotton, the head of one of the largest public transit hubs in the country Penn Station. This was the first of many sanitation closures and was later followed by restaurants closing for several weeks in the wake of the pandemic.

Our editor Joanna Fantozzi compiled a list of the most effective tools for restaurants to combat the effects of coronavirus. The items include a 24/7 helpline app, hand sanitation analyzer, a hand scanner showing germs and more.

In non-coronavirus-related news, Chef Gray Kunz who helped introduce Asian flavors to America, died at 65 late last week. Chefs across the country offered stories of Kunz and the impact he had on both their lives and the cooking world on the whole.
