We know you do your best to train your staff in the most up-to-date food safety practices, but have you told them not to lick a toad? Yeah, we know, you didn’t think that was necessary. Neither did we until recently when the owner of Osaka restaurant in Davenport, Iowa, was fined after his head chef was videotaped licking and kissing a toad in the kitchen of the restaurant.
The videotape, shot by the brother of the chef, Christopher Turla, was posted on YouTube. Health department officials fined the restaurant owner, Yidi When, after reviewing the video. It said several health and food safety violations were violated. When said he would pay the $335 fine.
Both When and the brother said Turla is just a jokester who likes to have fun.
