José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup is making a big splashy return to Los Angeles in 2022 with three new restaurants in the heart of downtown, the company announced Monday.

All three concepts will be part of The Grand LA, a Frank Gehry-designed mixed-use development near the Walt Disney Concert Hall that will feature 164,000-square-feet of retail, more than 400 luxury apartments and a 305-room Conrad Hotel. The project is being developed by RelatedCompanies.

The first two of Andrés’ restaurants — as yet unnamed — will be in the Conrad on the 10th floor. The hotel is scheduled to open to guests in the spring.

Andrés’ first restaurant will be an open-air rooftop concept with a Latin- and Asian-inspired menu, as well as a dedicated poolside menu.

The second concept will be inside on the 10th floor featuring “magical Spanish feasts” with farm-fresh California ingredients, according to press materials. An adjoining lobby bar will showcase west coast flavors, such as agave, sours, spicy and tropical, along with some Spanish influences, such as sherry.

Later in the year, ThinkFoodGroup plans to open a Bazaar Meat by José Andrés as a stand-alone restaurant within The Grand LA. The original Bazaar concept got its start in Los Angeles in 2008  at what was then the SLS Hotel on the edge of Beverly Hills.

“I love Los Angeles! It is where we debuted The Bazaar years ago and since then we’ve evolved with many new stories to share through food,” said Andrés in a statement. “This city welcomed me so warmly when we first opened, and I can’t wait to return to give Angelenos and the world an exciting new destination for dining in downtown LA.”

ThinkFoodGroup later opened variations on Bazaar in other cities, with the first Bazaar Meat opening in Las Vegas in 2014. The group brought the concept to Chicago last month, along with a seafood concept called Bar Mar, a new concept called Café By The River in partnership with Gibsons Restaurant Group, and a location of the group’s Jaleo along with a new cocktail concept called Pigtail.
