Key Ingredients: Smoked turkey, Alabama white barbecue sauce, balsamic onion jam, pickles, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, brioche bun.
Price: $11
Food Cost: $3.53
What the Judges Said: Until we crossed paths with this sandwich, we had never tasted Alabama white barbecue sauce, much to our chagrin. This regional barbecue sauce has a base of mayonnaise, not tomato, and it’s perfect with chicken, turkey and pork. When combined with creole mustard, horseradish, white vinegar, paprika and other spices, it’s a revelation. Combine that with turkey that chef DiScullio smokes himself, and you have an unbeatable combination. If you’re not familiar with this Alabama sauce, look into it. It should be part of your arsenal.
